Royals: Camilla and Kate become officers of Guards regiments

The British King Charles III. (74) has appointed his wife, King's Consort Camilla (75), and daughter-in-law, Princess Kate (40), as officers of Guards regiments in his Household Divisions. This was announced by London's Buckingham Palace on Thursday night.

Camilla is accordingly appointed "Colonel of the Grenadier Guards". The post was last held by Charles' younger brother Prince Andrew, who lost all his military ranks because of his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein abuse scandal. Kate takes over the role of "Colonel of the Irish Guards" from her husband, heir to the throne Prince William, who as Prince of Wales is now "Colonel of the Welsh Guards".

The Household Divisions are traditionally involved in the British monarch's official Trooping the Color birthday parade.
