Riccardo Simonetti (29) was appointed honorary ambassador by Unicef Germany. "Riccardo Simonetti stands for respect, tolerance and equality - values that Unicef also advocates through its day-to-day work," explains Daniel Debray from Unicef Germany. "We are therefore delighted to have won Riccardo as a Unicef ambassador. From now on, together, even louder for children worldwide!"
Simonetti has been a Unicef project sponsor for the children's charity for several years. "Among other things, we used donations to support a 'safe space' for children in Cambodia who are victims of psychological or physical violence at the beginning of the pandemic," explains the 29-year-old. "Now to be officially named a Unicef Ambassador makes me very proud and gives me the opportunity to use this public platform to bring visibility to issues that are incredibly important. Unicef helps where help is needed most and I want to support as much as I can."
Since 1954, celebrities have joined forces with Unicef to give children a voice around the world. In Germany, Udo Lindenberg, Sabine Christiansen and Mats Hummels, among others, support the United Nations Children's Fund. The internationally prominent ambassadors include stars such as Katy Perry, Shakira and Orlando Bloom.
In addition to his commitment to Unicef, Riccardo is also an ambassador for DKMSlife and Youth Against Aids. In 2021 he founded his own non-profit organization, the 'Riccardo Simonetti Initiative e.V.', which takes care of marginalized social groups, provides educational work and plans and implements projects.
