Raheem Sterling: Back in the team against France after a slump

Chelsea striker Raheem Sterling (28) is about to return to the English national team. Sterling left Qatar ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup knockout round against Senegal (3-0) on Sunday after his family's house south-east of London was broken into. However, the winger will rejoin the national team tomorrow, Friday, as reported by The Guardian, among others. Sterling will be back in the England squad for Saturday night's quarter-final clash against defending champions France.

Armed burglars were initially reported to have broken into Sterling's home in Surrey. However, these reports have not been confirmed by Surrey Police. Sterling's family of four were also not at the property during the burglary and only realized upon their return that items such as jewelry and watches had been stolen.

Footballer Sterling was then "shaken" and "concerned for the well-being of his children", as reported by "Sky News". After his return from Qatar, the attacker had "reinforced his security measures" in the past few days, according to The Guardian. There was no pressure on Sterling to return to Qatar from the England national team. National coach Gareth Southgate (52) said, according to "Sky News": "Sometimes football is not the most important thing and family should come first".

Sterling is expected not to start against world champions France due to missed training sessions this week.
