This Friday (April 21), Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), who died in September 2022, would have been 97 years old. On the monarch's birthday, her family members took to social media to reminisce about her. Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (41) shared a particularly touching photo of the Queen on their Instagram account.
In the never-before-seen snap, taken by Princess Kate at Balmoral Castle last summer, according to the caption, Queen Elizabeth II sits on a lime green sofa surrounded by ten of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
To her right is Savannah Phillips (12), daughter of Princess Anne's (72) son Peter (45) and the Queen's eldest great-grandchild. On the left are the three children of Anne's daughter Zara Tindall (41): nine-year-old Mia with her younger brother Lucas (2) on her lap, directly behind four-year-old Lena.
Standing behind the sofa are William and Kate's children Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, with Isla Phillips, 11. At the bottom are the Queen's two youngest grandchildren: Prince Edward's (59) children Lady Louise Windsor (19) and James, Earl of Wessex (15).
In total, Queen Elizabeth II had eight grandchildren, including Prince Harry (38) and Prince William. There are also twelve great-grandchildren, four of whom are missing in the new photo: Harry's children Archie (3) and Lili (1) and Princess Beatrice's (34) daughter Sienna (1) and Princess Eugenie's (33) son August (2).
