Private matter: Paris Hilton kept the pregnancy secret for a long time – even from her own family

A life accompanied by flashbulbs and cameras. Paris Hilton grew up in the spotlight as the daughter of Richard and Kathy Hilton. Her father inherited the well-known hotel group Hilton, which made enormous profits. Paris was used to the fact that she was always in the public interest - but for one of the most private moments, the birth of her first child, she locked out the media and the family for the time being.

At the end of January 2023, Paris Hilton and Carter Reum became parents of a son. The baby was born with the help of a surrogate mother. However, just before the new parents wanted to publish the little one's birth announcement on Instagram, they inaugurated the two families. Speaking to Harper's Bazaar magazine, she said, "My whole life has been so public. I've never had anything to myself. We decided we wanted to have this whole experience to ourselves."

Even during the birth, Paris Hilton meticulously made sure that nothing would become public. While the surrogate was in labour, Paris Hilton quickly donned a brunette wig and used a pseudonym so she wouldn't be recognized in the hospital.

Despite being said to be close with her sister Nicky and her mother Kathy Hilton, Paris chose to keep the pregnancy a secret. Perhaps also because public tensions had already arisen in November last year. Her mother claimed at the time that in vitro fertilization was a "struggle" for Paris. "I don't know where she got that from," Paris Hilton said in a TMZ interview the next day. "It was never a fight at all".

Hilton has not revealed the boy's name either. But what she revealed in the interview why she once fell in love with Carter Reum: "He's not famous. He's smart. He comes from a nice family. He's a good person. It was the opposite of what I was used to when I was looking for a man."
