8-year-old Jasper (Anton Landau), son of multi-millionaire businessman Frederik Thalfort (Moritz Führmann), is kidnapped. Mariana (Soma Pysall), Jasper's nanny, is mistaken for his mother and kidnapped as well. Her disappearance draws her attention. To the detriment of his son's safety, Thalfort does not cooperate with Verena (Henny Reents) and Karen (Annette Paulmann), but instead provokes the kidnappers. Did anyone from Verena's own ranks know about the kidnapping?

Patriarch Borris Angersbach (Klaus Zmorek) only got to the top of the company through his marriage to Luise Angersbach (Angela Roy). His stepson Kai (Golo Euler) distanced himself from the family early on and also professionally fought the business of his hated stepfather. Chief inspectors Marie Brand (Mariele Millowitsch) and Jürgen Simmel (Hinnerk Schönemann) find out that Kai was once the victim of a kidnapping that was never reported to the police.
