Vera Lanz (Katharina Böhm) finds the body of master carpenter Linus Köhler on the outskirts of town, with a playing card with the King of Clubs on it. Does this suggest that the murderer is playing a game with the investigators? The investigations at Linus' workplace and in Giulia's (Elisabeth Kanetti's) restaurant do not provide any clear evidence for Lanz. Suddenly Rita Niemeyer (Dorothee Hartinger), head of the organized crime department, appears in the case. The restaurant is under surveillance because Montanavi, a contact of a Calabrian family clan, is being watched there. Is there a connection between him and the murder?
