Premiere: Mareile Höppner moderates "stern TV am Sonntag" for the first time: These are the topics of the program

New face: Mareile Höppner has her first assignment as presenter of "stern TV am Sonntag". The show runs on March 5th from 10:10 p.m. on RTL. However, the 45-year-old should be a good friend for regular TV viewers: since January 2023 she has been moderating the magazine "Extra" at the Cologne broadcaster, where she worked for various formats in the 2000s. In between, the native of Hamburg worked for ARD.

For her, the special thing about "stern TV am Sonntag" is that the format always wants to stay up to date and that planning is sometimes thrown overboard for a stronger or more topical topic. With a view to her premiere issue, Mareile Höppner says: "This week, when many people are likely to receive mail from their energy providers, we are going into the topic of electricity and gas price controls. We show who can save how and also who could be the big winners in the end - unfortunately not just the consumers. And if everything works out, I'm looking forward to a special guest in the "Stern TV" studio. It would be a premiere for both of us. I'm curious to see who is more surprised will be. But more on that on Sunday."

1.) How brazenly the energy companies are ripping us off – and politics are helping them too.

The energy price brake creates false incentives that are expensive for all of us. It's the left-pocket-right-pocket system. For consumers it is hardly worth switching because the high prices are paid by the state. The fact that this is also our tax money is often overlooked. We are ripped off twice as a customer and as a taxpayer.

2.) Work four days, chill three days - and that with full salary. Should we all work less?

A British study found out: The four-day week is good for everyone! Productivity stays the same and employee satisfaction increases. How is that possible? In fact, sick leave is falling, there is less burnout and employees are more efficient. Is that really a model for Germany? Some entrepreneurs say no. Others have long since implemented it and are enthusiastic.

3.) The Walldorf 2.0 cat lockdown

House arrest for cats in Walldorf is even longer this year than last year. From April 1st to August 31st there is a strict curfew in the southern part of the city. The reason: the endangered crested larks breed in the neighborhood. Anyone who violates the general decree must expect fines of up to 50,000 euros if crested larks are injured or killed. Only those who locate their cat with a GPS tracker, fence in their garden or put the animals on a leash are granted a special permit. For the first time, the responsible district administrator Stefan Dallinger answers the questions live on television and discusses with animal rights activists and cat owners.

Mareile Höppner is looking forward to her premiere. For her, a wish comes true on Sunday: "Others wish for a star on the "Walk of Fame", I always wanted to moderate stern TV."
