Pop singer: Solidarity with his wife: Oli P. explains why he no longer drinks alcohol

Alcohol is part of everyday life for many people, but for Oli P. alcoholic beverages have been taboo for years. The singer, whose real name is Oliver Petszokat, is abstinent and explained the reasons for this to his musician colleague Thomas Anders in the podcast "Modern Talking – Simply Different".

Accordingly, the 44-year-old drank alcohol for the last time six years ago. "I'm on the freeway so much, I drive myself for all my jobs," he said. "And I have a responsibility towards my wife. At some point I said to myself: I always want to be the master of my senses and I thought to myself, I won't do that anymore."

His wife Pauline was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2020. Although the operation was successful, she still has to take medication. In combination with alcohol, there can apparently be dangerous interactions, at least Oli P. explained in the podcast: "I'm also concerned with my wife's health. Her medication doesn't mean you can do it that way either."

Oli P., whose new album "Hey Freedom" will be released in April, seems to be really missing, despite his lack of alcohol. The singer pays a lot of attention to his diet and a sustainable lifestyle anyway. He has been eating vegan for many years. "This conscious eating is just so much fun for me," said Oli P. 2021 of the "Gala". He feels "more fit than ever in my life".

However, Oli P. does not want to rule out the possibility that there will be one or two glasses with alcohol in the future – possibly together with his wife. "Maybe at some point the moment will come and we'll enjoy a case of wine," he said jokingly in the Thomas Anders podcast.
