LOS ANGELES , Paul Rudd was named the Sexiest Men Alive in 2021 by People magazine.
Rudd is well-known for his roles in Marvel's "Ant-Man," "This is 40" or "Clueless" films. He was announced Tuesday night as the winner of this year's CBS "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert."
In a Friday issue, the actor told the magazine that he was surprised to be awarded the honor.
He said, "I do have awareness. Enough to know that people would respond with surprise when I told them that I was being selected for this." This is not false humility. This should be a wake-up call for many others.
Rudd will not turn down the honor, of course. Rudd jokes that the new title will allow him to attend "those sexy meals" with Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Michael B. Jordan -- all of whom are recent winners.
Dwayne Johnson and Chris Hemsworth were also honored in the past.
Rudd stated, "I think I'll be on more yachts." Rudd said, "I'm excited about expanding my yachting life. I will probably work harder at brooding in very soft light. I enjoy to think. This will help me to be more inwardly and mysterious. That's what I look forward to.
Rudd's breakout performance was in 1995's "Clueless," a cult film starring Alicia Silverstone. Rudd also appeared in several comedies, including "The 40 Year Old Virgin", "Anchorman", and "This is 40," which was a spin-off of the comedy "Knocked Up."
The actor achieved superstar status in a number of Marvel superhero films, including "Ant-Man," and "Ant-Man and the Wasp". He will also star in the "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" and join Will Ferrell in the Apple TV+ series "The Shrink Next Door," which premieres Nov. 12.

He said, "But you know, she was very sweet about that," of his 18-year-old wife, Julie. After some giggling, shock, she said, "Oh, they got that right." And that was very sweet. Although she was not likely telling the truth, what is she going to say?
Rudd expects his friends to bring him "so much pain." He doesn't blame them.
"I mean, it's going to be hard for me to support it. He said, "I'm going to own it." I won't pretend to be modest. I'm going to get business cards printed. All of my friends are going to destroy me. I know that. That's why they're my best friends.
