People: DJ BoBo advises music stars to be calm

The Swiss musician DJ BoBo advises his colleagues to remain calm. "Sometimes I see artists and talk to them and think: People, just chill," he told the German Press Agency in Bremen.

"Don't take yourselves too seriously, you're just part of the entertainment industry. You're not some gods." The problem is, when you keep being told how great or extraordinary you are, you start to believe it. "You think you're floating above things," said the trained baker.

DJ BoBo, whose real name is Peter René Baumann, is one of the few artists of the Eurodance era who still writes songs and fills large halls with their concerts. He had his first hit in 1992 with "Somebody Dance with Me". More hits like "There Is a Party", "Freedom" and "Pray" followed. According to his biography, he sold more than 15 million records worldwide. On the occasion of his 30th stage anniversary, he will be on tour again in 2023 ("Evolut30n").

DJ Bobo said it was important to him to be able to make his own career decisions, regardless of economic interests. "It's imperative for every artist to remain in control of what they're doing," he said. That is the case with him. "I would never go on tour unless I really enjoy it or don't want to, there are no constraints." As an artist, you have to think ahead and not just rely on the management.
