"Normal People" star Paul Mescal (26) is said to be negotiating the lead role in Ridley Scott's (85) sequel to the hit film "Gladiator" (2000). Director Ridley Scott confirmed at the end of 2021 that there was already a script for the sequel and spoke of a "good, logical place" to head for. The filmmaker added at the time that there were enough tie-ins from the first installment to pick up the ball and continue the story. A final draft of the script was reportedly finalized in November 2022, and after "a fantastic meeting" between Scott and Mescal, he is said to be the first choice for the role.
