Nuclear phase-out: Ingo Zamperoni moderates "daily topics" from AKW

In view of Germany's historic exit from nuclear energy, the ARD "daily topics" will be broadcast live on Friday (10:15 p.m.) from the Isar 2 nuclear reactor near Landshut. "In this special edition of the "Tagesthemen", moderator Ingo Zamperoni and reporter Philip Kuntschner (BR) share their exclusive pictures and impressions from inside the power plant in a report. They spoke to opponents and supporters of nuclear energy in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant," shared Norddeutscher Rundfunk and Bayerischer Rundfunk in Hamburg and Munich.

The "Tagesthemen" team usually goes on the air from a studio in Hamburg. However, there have been a number of exceptions where the news magazine was moderated completely or in part externally. In 2018, for example, Zamperoni accompanied the exit from hard coal with an issue underground in a colliery in the Ruhr area. In 2020 there was a "daily topic" program from Washington on the occasion of the US elections, and in 2022 there was a live program from Kiev, Ukraine.

In the 45-minute program from the AKW, Ingo Zamperoni looks at the future of energy supply in Germany. Interviews are also planned with the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), the Green Party leader Ricarda Lang and the head of the Isar 2 nuclear power plant, Carsten Müller.

"Being there with the "daily topics" is always something special for us," Ingo Zamperoni was quoted as saying in the statement. "In this case, not only because it interrupts our usual processes and offers our audience new perspectives, but also because it is a very special location. At Isar 2 we were able to get an exclusive insight into the ongoing operation of this highly complex technology received. It was definitely an exciting experience."
