In the top category "Best Film" the chances for "Nothing New in the West" were good. However, the Netflix film had to admit defeat against the sci-fi adventure and the night's smash hit "Everything Everywhere All at Once".

All in all it can be said: Germany did more than just properly at this year's Oscars. Every time "Nothing New in the West" was mentioned, the audience in the Dolby Theater cheered. It seemed as if the German filmmakers had made plenty of friends and fans among the crowd of celebrities present. The entire team will certainly remember this evening for a long time. After all, with their historical achievement, they managed to make German film an international topic of conversation again.
