Nobility: Charles and Camilla left for Hamburg on the train

King Charles III and his wife Camilla took a regular train from Berlin to Hamburg for the last day of their three-day state visit to Germany. Accompanied by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender, Charles and Camilla walked across a red carpet on the platform in the underground area of the station and then boarded an ICE that carried a banner in the colors of the German flag on the side.

Numerous onlookers had gathered at the station to see the royal couple.

In Hamburg, the royal couple will visit a memorial commemorating the predominantly Jewish children who were sent to Great Britain during the Nazi era. After that, Charles and Steinmeier want to lay wreaths at the St. Nikolai memorial. The church was destroyed during British and American air raids on Hamburg in 1943. This is followed by an entry in the Golden Book in Hamburg City Hall.

In the afternoon, the Federal President and the King take a boat trip in the harbor, where he wants to find out about the use of green technologies. Meanwhile, Elke Büdenbender and Queen Camilla visit the bilingual Rudolf Roß Elementary School and meet the children's book illustrator Axel Scheffler ("The Gruffalo") there. The state visit ends with a reception hosted by the British Embassy.

It is Charles' first trip abroad in his new role as king, which he assumed after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September. He arrived in Berlin with Camilla on Wednesday. On Thursday, the king gave a speech in the Bundestag.
