New in cinemas: the film releases of the week

In "Tár" Cate Blanchett gets the opportunity to show all her skills. She plays the (fictitious) chief conductor of a large Berlin orchestra who is at the peak of her fame. Then her world threatens to fall apart. The psychological drama deals with the current topic of abuse of power in the cultural world, but the focus always remains on the main character. Director Todd Field credited "Tár" to Blanchett, as he has related in interviews. She has already won a number of awards for it.

"Sonne und Beton" - novel by Felix Lobrecht filmed

Many people know his podcast. Comedian Felix Lobrecht grew up in Berlin's Gropiusstadt and tells about it in the novel "Sonne und Beton". Now a film adaptation of the bestseller is coming to the cinema. In around two hours, the film takes you to broken families and aimless men, to high-rise canyons and backroom deals, to friendly and less friendly people.

Boxing drama "Creed III" - Now without Rocky

London (AP) - Almost 50 years after Sylvester Stallone first fought Apollo Creed as Rocky on the big screen, the "Rocky" saga is entering its ninth round. "Creed III" continues the popular boxing film series, but for the first time without Rocky. Stallone is only involved as a producer.

Rocky's former protégé Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has retired from boxing and is now a coach. One day, an old acquaintance turns up, with whom Adonis connects a dark chapter in his past. His childhood friend Damian (Jonathan Majors) was a gifted boxer before he went to prison. After 18 years behind bars, Damian wants to know and box against a well-known opponent. "Creed III" is the directorial debut of lead actor Michael B. Jordan.
