"Navy CIS": Series creates hype about amateur ice hockey club

The EHC Waldkraiburg is actually a contemplative, small, Bavarian amateur ice hockey club, which is currently chasing the puck in the fourth-rate Bavarian league. But suddenly the club finds itself in the middle of a social media hype. The reason: In an episode of the US crime series "Navy CIS", EHC Waldkraiburg plays against local rivals ESC Dorfen in the background on a TV. Why? So far, no one knows for sure, but the scene is currently trending on the video portal TikTok.

There, the "NoProblemGambler" channel has long specialized in analyzing sports broadcasts that can be seen in the background of films and series. And exactly this channel with 900,000 followers from Canada also took a closer look at a scene with the main actor and producer Mark Harmon (71) and some skid crackers in the background. TikTok user Ian Araujo found out that it was a game scene from the 2014/2015 Bayernliga season between EHC Waldkraiburg and ESC Dorfen. The final score back then was 2-1 for Waldkraiburg.

The President of EHC Waldkraiburg, Wolfgang Klose, who answered questions from Bavarian Radio, does not know how this came about. "I have no idea how they got it," says Klose. It is a scene from a trailer for reaching the playoffs in that same season. Nevertheless, he thinks it's a good use: "It's great. 1.7 million people who know us now have already seen this video." Also on the club's website and on the Facebook page it was clearly noticed that many people are currently interested in EHC Waldkraiburg. The production company has now been contacted.
