Natalia Avelon (42) enjoys the Advent season to the fullest. "For me it's the best time of the year because everything calms down a bit, you have more time for your loved ones and you can gather strength for the new year," she reveals on the sidelines of a Gobi Cashmere label store event on Thursday evening in Berlin. When it comes to Christmas presents, however, the actress breaks a sweat.
Natalia Avelon: Yes! Since some snow fell in Berlin a few days ago and the Ku'damm was decorated for Christmas, I'm really looking forward to Christmas.
Avelon: For me, the Advent season is a very contemplative time. I slowly look back on the year, review all events and encounters from time to time and slowly shut down my system. For me it's the best time of the year because everything calms down a bit, you have more time for your loved ones and you can gather strength for the new year.
Avelon: This year I've made a firm commitment not to wait until Christmas Eve to do my errands! Maybe I'm finally growing up on this. (laughs) I've already bought a few small things and for everything else I definitely have great ideas that just need to be organized. I really like giving and of course receiving presents.
Avelon: When I feel like I've been seen and heard by my counterpart, it can range from a daisy to a surprise guest, which I would call the perfect gift. It's not the material value that matters, but the feeling and story associated with the gift. This year I only wish that my loved ones are healthy and happy. No diamond in the world can replace that!
Avelon: I love the traditional Polish dishes that are only available at Christmas and the smell of which brings back so many memories from my childhood! In addition, we only decorate the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, which makes the day even more unique. We start our dinner when the first star appears in the sky and we always have an extra place set at the table in case someone wants to join us lonely or hungry.
Avelon: I like to dress up smartly at Christmas. Twelve months of work are behind us and we deserve to get dressed up to celebrate the birth of Christ and ourselves and our families! But the most important thing is of course that everyone feels comfortable in their own skin. Maybe I can find a few cozy pieces for my outfit here at Gobi Cashmere.
Avelon: I love gingerbread. And only eat it at Christmas! It reminds me of the times when my grandparents were still alive and triggers many beautiful emotions.
Avelon: I had wonderful encounters in 2022 that gladden my heart. I am grateful that I can practice my dream job and that I have been able to travel a lot and continue my education. Now I'm excited to see what the new year has in store for me and look forward to everything that's to come.
Avelon: I wish for peace this year because of the current situation and that we can help as many children as possible through the work of Ark, for which I am an ambassador. I also wish my loved ones good health and that my professional dreams and goals will come true in 2023.
Avelon: Last year, shortly before, I booked the most beautiful trip of my life, as it turned out afterwards. In this respect, I let myself be surprised again this year by my spontaneity and thirst for adventure. The main thing is that my favorite person is there!
