Country musician Blake Shelton (46) is giving up his job as a judge on the US talent show "The Voice" after twelve years.

"I wrestled with myself for a while and decided it was time for me to retire after the next season of The Voice," he wrote in a statement on Instagram.

Shelton has been there since launch in 2011, and season 23 is set to be its last. "This show has changed my life for the better in every way, and it will always feel like home to me," said Shelton. The musician met his wife Gwen Stefani (53) on the set of the show, with whom he has been together since 2015. "I'm so proud of you and so blessed to have found you," the singer commented on the musician's statement.

Shelton left open why he stopped. He thanked the fans and everyone involved. According to the US broadcaster NBC, the next season of "The Voice" will start next year. "Coaches" of the 23rd season are said to be alongside Shelton, US pop singer Kelly Clarkson (40), Irish singer-songwriter Niall Horan (29) and US rapper Chancelor Bennett aka Chance the Rapper (29).
