Maxi skirts: We wear this alternative to trousers in the fall

When it comes to trends, designers are largely in agreement this season. Opinions differ only when it comes to skirt length. While it can't be short enough for some, others opt for floor-length creations.

The maxi skirts made of leather by Bottega Veneta or Givenchy prove that the latter are in no way inferior to the mini. The statement pieces require nothing more than a knitted jumper. The designs by Saint Laurent are just as simple. The fashion house presents a successful interplay of feminine satin skirts and masculine blazer coats. In contrast, the pleated skirts with flower appliqués by Louis Vuitton or the red denim skirts by Acne Studios appear downright daring.

The maxi skirt is omnipresent not only on the catwalk but also on social media. Models in white are particularly popular with influencers. Influencer Camille Charrière wears a wide-cut striped sweater and chucks. She takes summer with her into autumn in the form of a straw bag.

Fashion blogger Debora Rosa also opted for the trend color white. She complements her pleated skirt with a black sweater and chunky leather boots. If you like it more elegant, you can use ankle boots with narrow heels instead.

Silk and satin are just as popular as pleats. Hairy mohair wool or coarse knit create a beautiful contrast to the shiny skirt. Or how about a leather jacket with a used look, like that worn by influencer Nisi? A white tank top and ballerinas, which can only be guessed at under the maxi skirt, complete the outfit.

Carola Pojer relies on a similar combination. She has chosen a patchwork denim maxi skirt, a white tank top and an oversized black blazer. On warm early autumn days, she ditches the blazer and replaces the strappy pumps with flat sandals.

The maxi skirt even competes with sweatpants. The knitted ensemble by Ellie Delphine aka "slipintostyle" is just as comfortable, but much more stylish. The look is particularly elegant when the maxi skirt, bustier and cardigan are colour-coordinated. Pumps and jewelery even make him street-legal.
