Matthias Reim: Singer has "a strong burnout problem"

Due to health problems, Matthias Reim (64) canceled all concerts for September and October last Thursday. The organizer Semmel Concerts first explained on Instagram that Reim had other "serious problems" in addition to "vocal cord inflammation" that "require long-term treatment". On the evening of September 1st, Reim had to go into "intensive medical treatment". Reim now revealed to the "Bild" newspaper that he had "a severe burnout problem".

He also apologized to his audience, his musicians, the tour entrepreneur and all employees, but also made it clear: "But there's no other way: I have to cancel all performances planned for the next two months." It is currently unclear whether the singer has to go to a clinic for his treatment or whether he can recover at home.

Reim should have performed in Potsdam, Nuremberg and Gera, among others. In the coming days, the organizer wants to announce possible alternative dates. They are currently "confident that he will be fully fit again for the arena concerts in December". For the end of the year, appearances in Leipzig, Magdeburg, Hamburg, Berlin and Cologne are on the agenda.
