Martina Voss-Tecklenburg: DFB separates from national coach

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (55) is no longer working as national coach of the German women's national team. As the German Football Association (DFB) announced in a statement, the “collaboration has ended with immediate effect.” This was decided at a meeting last Friday.

The disappointing performance of the women's national team in the last World Cup in Australia and New Zealand was analyzed in a "trusting atmosphere". It was decided by mutual agreement that the team needed “a fresh start in terms of sporting leadership”.

The German soccer players failed in the group phase for the first time in Australia in the summer. Voss-Tecklenburg's contract with the DFB originally ran until the 2025 European Championships in Switzerland.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf (62) thanked the national coach “on behalf of the DFB and also personally for the cooperation over the past few years.” During this time, Voss-Tecklenburg “set important impulses in the area of women’s football.”

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg took over the coaching position at the end of 2018. At the 2019 World Cup, the team made it to the quarter-finals, and in 2022 they made it to the European Championship final against England.
