"Manta Manta - Second Part": One million moviegoers after three weeks

Scolded by the critics, apparently mostly celebrated by the audience: "Manta Manta - Zwoter Teil" with Til Schweiger (59) in the leading role has already cracked the magic mark of one million cinema visitors in the third week. This was announced by the production company Constantin Film. It is the "fastest German visitor millionaire of the current year". A total of 1,123,743 tickets have been sold at the box office since March 30, 2023 in German-speaking countries.

"Manta Manta - Zwoter Teil" is the sequel to the cult comedy "Manta, Manta" from 1991. In addition to Schweiger, other actors from the original film are also back. Among others, Tina Ruland (56), Michael Kessler (55) and Martin Armknecht (61). But new actors like Moritz Bleibtreu (51), Luna Schweiger (26), Axel Stein (41) or Wotan Wilke Möhring (55) also play in the sequel. There are also guest appearances by celebrities such as soccer star Lukas Podolski (37), auto influencer JP Kraemer (42) or sports commentator Frank Buschmann (58).

In the sequel, the character of Bertie (Schweiger) is again placed in the foreground. He gave up his racing career some time ago and runs a car repair shop including a go-kart track. Because of money problems, he wants to win a mountain race in order to be able to pay off his debts. He has one month to get his old Opel Manta fit again. But suddenly his ex-wife Uschi (Ruland) shows up and asks Bertie to take care of their son Daniel (Tim Oliver Schultz, 34).
