Living trend: urban jungle: tips and tricks for the home jungle

The last long-distance trip was certainly some time ago for many people - and it will probably be a while before the next one is due. It is all the more important that we feel comfortable within our own four walls. And ideally bring the holiday feeling home. The Urban Jungle living trend brings an exotic feeling into the home and immediately puts you in a good mood. But how does the trend work? And what do you have to consider?

In an interview with stern, living expert Nadia McCowan Hill from Wayfair gives helpful tips and explains what you should definitely pay attention to. Particularly important, of course: plants of all kinds - regardless of whether they are real plants or prints on walls or cushions.

Nadia McCowan Hill explains: "A neutral base is ideal for the urban jungle look, it combines wonderfully with lush green tones and highlights in bright pink and elegant gold. The beauty of the green look is that it doesn't take itself too seriously and cares so for lightness. Playful botanical motifs and funny figures as well as lights in animal shapes harmonize wonderfully with down-to-earth materials such as wood and rattan."

Plants make a room cozy and of course provide an authentic urban jungle look. But it doesn't have to be a lot, as the living expert reveals. "For the jungle in your own four walls, you don't necessarily have to buy an army of high-maintenance plants. Two or three green plants with magnificent leaves are enough. Large vases in which palm fronds come into their own are perfect."

In a pinch, however, high-quality artificial plants were also an option, says McCowan Hill. "They are absolutely undemanding in terms of care and a cost-effective option." Otherwise, plants such as Monstera, which do not require too much care, are suitable for beginners. Of course, palm trees convey a special jungle look.

According to the expert, "floral motifs and plant prints, for example on cushion covers, curtains and walls, are perfect for the urban jungle at home. Practical peel-and-stick wallpapers are very easy to attach and not only look good on walls, but also on others smooth surfaces such as cupboards for a real eye-catcher." Depending on your taste, a few eye-catching details are enough to bring that jungle feeling into your four walls.

In addition to plants, prints and decorative figures, there are even more ways to implement the urban jungle trend: natural materials such as rattan and raffia, for example in the form of storage baskets or pieces of furniture, look just as good as textiles made of linen and cotton , explains Nadia McCowan Hill. In summary, the following things make up the urban jungle look:

The expert adds: "Advanced users combine natural materials and greenery with concrete, metal, wood and the like for an urban look with a jungle feeling." And with the exotic feeling at home, the wanderlust will certainly decrease a bit.
