Literature: Book fair also open to the reading public

The Frankfurt Book Fair opened its doors to the reading public earlier than in previous years. As early as Friday morning, anyone who wanted to was allowed to enter the exhibition grounds. For a long time, the fair was only accessible to everyone on Saturday, for several years the public days had started on Friday afternoon. Unlike in the past, publishers are now also allowed to sell books at the fair.

4,000 exhibitors from 95 countries present their new publications at the world's largest book show. Readings and author talks were also on the program on Friday, with Ian Kershaw, Judith Holofernes and Karen Duve, among others. Climate activist Luisa Neubauer presents her new book, which she wrote with her grandmother. In the evening, this year's Peace Prize winner Serhij Zhadan wants to present a music performance with other musicians.

The world's largest book show is currently taking place again without larger editions. Host country is Spain. The fair ends on Sunday.
