Kitzbühel: Pleasant Christmas atmosphere in the chamois town

The cold fingers of winter may make one or the other shiver. In Kitzbühel, on the other hand, a pleasant shiver runs down our spines during the "staden" period. In Advent, the chamois town in the heart of Tyrol shines in deliberately reduced light and creates an atmospheric atmosphere.

Visitors feel this best when strolling, feasting and looking at the Advent market. This takes place every Wednesday to Sunday in the Stadtpark and in the Hinterstadt until December 26th. Strolling between the 30 stalls is a wonderful way to warm up with hot chestnuts and fruit punch. We may even find Christmas presents for loved ones back home. Children can shorten the wait for Christmas Eve with handicrafts, baking bread, pony rides or at the Christmas post office.

There is also something for the ears in the pre-Christmas period: changing music events await on the market itself and in various corners of the 750-year-old city center, providing festive sounds and a cozy atmosphere. At 8:00 p.m. there is also the Kitzbühel carillon, with which the Advent market ends every evening. A special highlight are the Wilten Boys' Choir, who will arrive from Innsbruck on December 8th and pay a musical visit to Kitzbühel. They perform folk songs from the Alpine region and get the audience in the mood for the Advent and Christmas season.

The time of energy bottlenecks does not leave the Gamsstadt unscathed either. So it was decided to use the "stade" time to turn the resource screw. Lighting times and locations will be adjusted accordingly. According to the motto "Less is more", there is also an atmospheric ambience - including a good conscience.

We also take care of your physical well-being away from the Advent markets. The culinary refreshment comes from the "Auwirt", which, as a traditional ski room, gives local dishes a modern twist. Those with a sweet tooth shouldn't miss the reopening of "Franz Josef": In the former confectionery "Hölz", gourmets can feast on imperial cakes. For a short break in between, a detour to the "Kisini Bakery" is recommended, where you can either start the day with a delicious breakfast or enjoy local delicacies in the second half of the day.

If you still have energy despite all the exercise, you can do it in the surrounding holiday villages of Reith, Aurach and Jochberg. In Reith, the colorful Advent program offers two Christmas markets, while Aurach attracts visitors with new interpretations of well-known Christmas classics on December 18th. One day later, the highlight in Jochberg is the traditional Krampus run from the Goasstoa Pass. It's less wild on the local Dorf-Roas, a walk through the village to the Jochberger Bergadvent with handicrafts in the "Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol".

Speaking of hotels: when it comes to accommodation, a lot has happened in Kitzbühel. After extensive modernization measures, the "Grand Tirolia Kitzbühel" will open its doors on December 19th. Modernized rooms and suites also await guests in the "Hotel Weisses Rössle" in the heart of Kitzbühel. The hotel "Schweizerhof Kitzbühel" is also waiting for innovations. The third floor has been expanded here in recent months and four new rooms and suites have been gained. They are also available in the 5-star "Tennerhof Gourmet".

If the mountain is calling, you can strap on your skis or snowboard the next morning and explore the ski area in the region.

Whether on the slopes or at the Christmas market: Austria's Kitzbühel offers an individual winter fairy tale for everyone.
