King Charles III (74) unveiled a memorial plaque for Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), who died in September, in Parliament in London on Wednesday.

King Charles III (74) unveiled a memorial plaque for Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), who died in September, in Parliament in London on Wednesday. The metal plaque was embedded in the floor of Westminster Hall where the Queen lay in state for several days during the funeral services.

"Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was laid out here. From the fourteenth of September until her funeral in Windsor on the nineteenth of September two thousand and twenty-two," reads the inscription that can be read on the plaque. It went on to say on Instagram that Charles is "continuing a royal tradition that dates back to King Edward VII in 1910".

In addition, Charles unveiled two "unique bronze lamps featuring the heraldic animals of the United Kingdom". It is "a gift from Parliamentarians to the late Queen on the occasion of her platinum jubilee".
