Kim Kardashian: Balenciaga campaign disgusts her

Kim Kardashian (42) has clearly positioned himself against a currently controversial advertising campaign by Balenciaga. On her Twitter account, she wrote in several posts on Sunday that she had been silent until now because she was "disgusted and outraged". She also had to speak to the team before she could comment. Kardashian has worked many times with the fashion label, which is currently facing harsh criticism for a photo series.

In November, Balenciaga published pictures of children holding teddy bears with sado-masochistic equipment at the camera. This sexualized depiction of children was considered a pedophile crossing of borders, since it is also not clear why adolescents have to present products for adults at all, it said.

An absolute no-go for Kardashian: "As a mother of four children, the disturbing pictures shook me." The safety of children must come first. Any attempt to normalize child abuse "should have no place in our society - period". Kardashian welcomed the label's decision to pull the campaign. She believes Balenciaga understands the seriousness and that measures have been taken to prevent such things from happening in the future.

As for her personal future with Balenciaga, she says she is in the process of "reevaluating her relationship with the brand." Responsibility must be taken for something that should never have happened in the first place. She expects steps to protect the children.

Following the burgeoning criticism of the past few days, Balenciaga removed all the teddy bear images in question from his social media accounts. In a statement, the company said it should never have shown this campaign. Condemn abuse of children in any form. The photographer of the shoot, Gabriele Galimberti, also spoke up on Instagram, but relativized his influence there. He had no right to choose the products, the models or the combination thereof.

He was only asked to light the scene and shoot in his own style. This is common in commercial shoots. The direction of the campaign and the choice of objects featured would seldom be in the hands of the photographers. The accusations against him are therefore wrong and would distract from the real problem: criminals who have easy access to pictures on the Internet that are different from his: "Absolutely clear in their terrible content."
