Joe Jonas: Andrew Garfield snatched role from him

Musician Joe Jonas (33) really wanted to play the role of Peter Parker in the movie "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012). But unfortunately he had to admit defeat to a colleague - Andrew Garfield (39). "I remember being in talks for Spider-Man years ago, I was so excited, and it was the year Andrew Garfield got the part," the 33-year-old told Just for Variety. -Podcast. "Obviously he was the right candidate," admitted the Jonas Brothers member.

Jonas continued, "I remember going to the auditions was a big deal back then." The film's director, Marc Webb, 48, "used to be a music video director," which led the singer to believe he was in on it. "But you know what? I love the audition process and that you have to prove yourself," continued the 33-year-old. When asked if he was put in a Spider-Man suit, Jonas replied, "No, but I'm sure I had one that I used to wear off and on."

After missing the role, Jonas refocused on his music. But when the pandemic hit and "touring wasn't really an option," the singer had "plenty of time" to focus on improving his acting skills. That could also be due to his wife and "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner (26). "When you have a woman like Sophie Turner, who is a phenomenal actress filming you and directing you, you have to do your best," he said, describing his partner as "the toughest critic".

Joe Jonas is currently starring in the war film Devotion. He has been married to his partner Sophie Turner since 2019. The two have two daughters.
