Mourning for Jock Zonfrillo (1976-2023): The Scottish native and TV chef died unexpectedly on April 30 at the age of just 46. His family confirmed this with a statement on Instagram: "Completely heartbroken and not knowing how to go through life without him, we are devastated to announce that Jock passed away yesterday."
The family cannot put the circumstances into words at the moment. They're asking for privacy so we can grieve "while we find a way to get through this." They have lost an "irreplaceable husband, father, brother, son and friend". It is not yet known why the 46-year-old died so suddenly.
Zonfrillo emigrated from Scotland to Australia in 2000, where he worked successfully as a restaurateur. His restaurant Orana in Adelaide has won several awards. 2016 also saw the birth of the Orana Foundation, which worked to preserve Australian Aboriginal food culture and knowledge. Many knew him above all as a juror and presenter of the TV show "MasterChef Australia", including Jamie Oliver (47).
The British TV chef says goodbye to his colleague on Instagram. They had "the best time" when they were in front of the camera together for the show "MasterChef Australia" this year. Oliver sends his "heartfelt love and condolences" to Zonfrillo's family and friends.
