Almost every week, the "ZDF Magazin Royale" uncovers new scandals that make waves and make headlines - Jan Böhmermann (41) still sees his job as a normal "office job".

In an interview with the editorial network Germany, the moderator and entertainer stated that otherwise he "couldn't really go to work anymore". "It's a normal office job where 199 people come in and gossip once a week," says Böhmermann. You don't have much time to reflect, which is a good thing. "If you think too much, eventually you start chasing the dragon."

With well-researched articles on topics such as Fynn Kliemann (34) or the leaked NSU files, the show regularly causes a stir and much-discussed controversy. In one of the last broadcasts, the show also dealt with public broadcasting. There were no problems with his employer, Böhmermann explains: "No one was anxiously clinging to their armchairs when we took on the subject. On the contrary, we have had few programs where we dealt so little with editorial comments from ZDF had to bang around like these."

During the show’s winter break, Böhmermann will go on tour with the Ehrenfeld Radio Dance Orchestra from January 2023. This is a balance to his office job: "The show is very top-heavy, the tour has a more holistic approach: It's about the heart, about transporting emotions," says Böhmermann. And adds: "I think it's important to let out the glamor." The set list therefore includes "hard-won material from ten years", including his hit "I have police" in a new version for the stage.
