Indie rock: Tocotronic postpone performances

The rock band Tocotronic, based in Hamburg and Berlin, is postponing their live performances planned for October due to weak demand for advance ticket sales. The band announced this on their website on Friday.

The concert in Freiburg is to be rescheduled for November 26th, the other eight performances have been postponed to spring next year.

"At the moment the advance sales are too weak for the clubs, the local organizers, us and our crew to expect the tour to go ahead," said the band around front singer Dirk von Lowtzow. The tour dates in November and December are not affected by the postponement and will all take place as planned.

Tocotronic have been in the German charts with indie rock for almost three decades. Despite having largely moved to the capital, the band is still counted among the most important representatives of the intellectual "Hamburg School" along with Blumfeld and Die Sterne. The last nine records have all placed in the top ten.
