"Harry Potter": These actors have already died

The death of Robbie Coltrane (1950-2022) hits fans of the "Harry Potter" series to the core: the actor who played the warm-hearted half-giant Rubeus Hagrid also shone as Eddie Fitzgerald in the crime series "Just in Case Fitz" (1993-2006) , but most of you should know him as a very likeable gamekeeper. Over the years, we've had to say goodbye to actors who brought the stories of Joanne K. Rowling (57) to life.

One of the most striking characters from the Potter universe filled "Die Hard" star Alan Rickman: as slick potions teacher Severus Snape, he drew the displeasure of the main character and the audience for a long time. Snape's role should change considerably in the further course, in the last few meters the supposed villain turned out to be a hero. Rickman brought credibility to this multifaceted character. Many mourned Snape's death in the film, but there was also great grief for Rickman in 2016.

Richard Harris acted as the wise headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the first two "Harry Potter" films. From the third part, Michael Gambon (81) filled the role. Harris previously starred in Gladiator (2000). He was nominated for an Oscar for best actor for "Alluring Laurel" (1963) and "The Field" (1990).

John Hurt played the man who sold Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe, 33) his fateful wand. The veteran only embodied a small role, but filled it out with great enthusiasm and seriousness. In addition to being the wandmaker, Hurt also appeared as a doctor in the series "Doctor Who". He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Midnight Express (1978) and Best Actor for The Elephant Man (1980).

As Harry's grumpy uncle, Vernon Dursley, Griffiths did a fantastic job. His tantrums are legendary, Harry - like in the books - had little to laugh with him, but the viewer all the more. In addition, the role of the teacher Douglas Hector in "The History Boys" (2006) is probably his best-known, for which the Briton has won numerous awards.

Verne Troyer starred as Griphook in the first Harry Potter film. The actor is best known for starring as co-bullshit Mini-Me in the comedies 'Austin Powers' (1999, 2002).

As the mother of Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton, 35), Helen McCrory only appeared towards the end of the series but gave a believable performance. Series fans may know her as gang leader Polly Gray from the series "Peaky Blinders" (2013-2019).

The British veteran actor was a perfect fit for the role of the devious Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge. But Robert Hardy was also historically interested: As an expert in medieval warfare, he wrote several works on the subject.
