The Norwegian King Harald V. (85) was allowed to leave the University Hospital in Oslo in time for Christmas. The palace announced this in a brief update on its official website on Wednesday (December 21). It read: "His Majesty the King has been discharged from the National Hospital. The King is on the mend but will take it easy for a few days."

Last Monday (December 19), the royal family announced that the monarch, who was suffering from health problems, had to be hospitalized because of an infection and was being treated there with antibiotics. "He will therefore remain in Rikshospitalet for a few days. The condition is stable," the statement said. Once again he was represented during this time by his son, Crown Prince Haakon (49).

King Harald's recent hospitalization is one of the monarch's recent health problems. Already on November 25, 2022 he was on sick leave because of a cold. Last August, the king was also treated for an infection in the hospital. In March 2022, Harald V. also tested positive for the corona virus and was on sick leave.

At the end of January, the crown prince had temporarily taken over his father's official business when he was unable to work due to cold symptoms. King Harald has been on sick leave several times in recent years, including in 2020 when he was operated on for a new heart valve.
