"Germany's next top model": First almost naked and then off to the casting

In week one after the big makeover, the new "Germany's next top model" episode (Thursdays, 8:15 p.m., ProSieben) has a central theme. First the up-and-coming models pose revealingly in their panties for their sed cards, followed by a casting for an Italian label that specializes in underwear.

First of all, there are recordings for the model application folder during a shoot for the sedcard. In bright pink "GNTM" bathrobes, the candidates learn that they shouldn't wear much for the photos. Anna-Maria (24) first emphasizes how important these photos are, only to then realize: "When I found out that we were shooting half-naked today [...], I was really confused because it was such a sedcard shoot I actually associate it with these typical basic clothes. And now we're half-naked."

Therefore, according to Heidi Klum (49), her models should "feel particularly good", which is why she is glad that Vicky Lawton is taking the photos as a photographer today. "It's a bit like being in jail," the girls are said to be holding up boards into the camera on which the models' measurements are noted. "Because that's what the customer needs," as Klum says and Selma (18) confirms, even if they "ultimately don't matter at all" – only the charisma and the information for potential customers are important. At least the models are allowed to choose the sizes of the board and panties themselves.

Katherine (20) thinks the task is "really cool" and Anya (19), who according to the photographer looks like a "Prada girl", can "finally show my body". Meanwhile, Jülide (23) is "extremely excited", but above all because she is considered a shaky candidate alongside Katherina, Anya, Selma, Elsa (18) and Coco (21) and one of the girls has to pack her things right after the shoot. Not a good sign that Lawton can't imagine Jülide as a model. Klum is also "just not loving it".

Selma with the "dreamy" face comes across better, in contrast to Elsa, who is constantly playing with her hair and only has one suitable photo. The decision is made between Coco, who has to practice more, Elsa and Jülide, who lacks changeability and who ultimately draws the short straw. The other ten candidates should then also get photos for their sedcard, including Leona (21), who is already presenting herself as an experienced model, and Mirella (20): "I shot with heart that day and with boobies, which I unfortunately had to hide."

Matching the revealing nude shoot, the first casting of the season is for an underwear label. One of the models is to become the face of the brand for a new collection, which will be seen in all stores throughout Germany as part of a new campaign. "It's going to be the next level of confidence," said the candidates, who repeatedly emphasized that it was about this "confidence," that is, about self-confidence. Even before a walk, there is minor friction among the models, which is apparently due to the competitive situation, which Ida (23) also notices.

Seven candidates are shortlisted, including Somajia (21) and Anna-Maria. You should give everything in a test shoot, after all, the winner will be staged by photographer Derek Kettela, who has already photographed Klum with her daughter Leni (18) for the brand. Ida can put the "moment of shock" about the victory behind her, and Kettela is then also "very impressed" after the Cologne native's first real photo shoot.

This time, the decision walk is not only about the presentation on the catwalk, but also about knowledge. Because during the performance, Klum's models should also answer questions about the fashion business in groups. They wear individual letters on their clothes and are supposed to walk the catwalk one after the other to form the right answer – even before the model, presenter and guest judge Rebecca Mir (31), who was already in the “GNTM” finale in the sixth season was standing.

"The quiz was a mess," says Ida, and the candidates still manage to correctly answer the first question about the English word for catwalk with "R, U, N, W, A, Y". In the second round they are completely wrong, on several levels. We are looking for the surname of the lady who invented the "little black dress" - that of Coco Chanel (1883-1971). However, they only pay attention to the photo of Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) shown for the question and also present an "H, E, A, U, R, N" as an answer. Other questions, including about Anna Wintour (73), the editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine "Vogue", and about reality star and cosmetics entrepreneur Kylie Jenner (25), but they answer correctly.

A photo, the ticket to the next round, is of course for Vivien (22), who was already convincing at the shoot and of whom I am a "huge fan". Her colleague also joins Selma, who, according to the presenter, could be the twin sister of Hollywood star Margot Robbie (32). Anya's "killer look" also takes her one step further and Ida's Klum is not surprised that she has convinced the customer. On this occasion, the model mom also mentions that a candidate can book more than 400,000 euros in seed capital if she theoretically skims all the jobs in the season.

However, Elsa, who has "made lips," won't be able to land any of those jobs. According to Mir, the Austrian can of course decide for herself what she does with her body, but she lacks facial expressions and "doesn't have enough charisma on her face". Klum, who sealed the end, had said something similar before.
