The date for the German Television Award 2023 has been set. The TV award ceremony will take place on September 27th and 28th, 2023 in Cologne. Those responsible announced on Tuesday.

As for the first time in 2022, the award ceremony will be split over two evenings this year. On September 27th, the "Night of the Creative" will take place first. TV professionals who are active behind the camera are honored. Among other things, the creative people who are responsible for camera, music or screenplay are honored here.

The main award ceremony, which will also be broadcast on television, will follow on September 28th. Actors and works are honored here, such as best TV film, best series or best show.

ARD, ZDF, RTL and Sat.1 have been awarding the German Television Prize since 1999. The organization and TV broadcast change regularly. This year it's Sat.1's turn.

It is not yet clear who will moderate the ceremony. Barbara Schöneberger (49) has been leading the gala for the past six years.

The nominees for the German Television Award 2023 are also not yet known. All programs that ran or are running on TV or streaming services between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 qualify.

Last year's winners included "Who is stealing the show?" in the field of best entertainment show. Best Comedy was the Amazon format "LOL", "Battle of the Reality Stars" took home the award in the category "Entertainment Reality".

"The Wannsee Conference" received the award for best TV film. Best drama series was "Faking Hitler" with Moritz Bleibtreu (51), who was also awarded best actor.
