German preliminary decision: Lord of the Lost and Frida Gold want to go to the ESC for Germany

The show "Eurovision Song Contest 2023 - Our song for Liverpool" will take place on March 3 in Cologne, where the starting place for the international ESC final in May in Liverpool, UK will be awarded. So far, eight out of nine participants in the preliminary decision have been determined, they were determined by those responsible at the ESC and music experts. Since Friday, fans in the online service Tiktok, which is particularly popular with young people, have been able to choose the ninth participant until February 3rd.

The Hamburg-based band Lord of the Lost has made a name for itself in the hard rock sector in recent years through numerous tours and now thirteen albums and last year accompanied the legendary band Iron Maiden as a special guest on their tour. The preliminary decision song of the Hamburgers is called like their album "Blood

At Frida Gold, the biggest hit was some time ago. "What should we dream of" stayed in the charts for more than a year after it was released in 2011. The duo competes in the preliminary round with the ballad "All the women in me are tired".

Other starters for "Unser Lied für Liverpool" include the Berlin singer Will Church, a former "The Voice of Germany" participant and Patty Gurdy from Düsseldorf, the singer Trong from Bad Kissingen in Bavaria, the Berlin singer René Miller, Anica Russo from Berlin, who was successful on Tiktok, and the Passau band Lonely Spring.

The ESC final will take place in Liverpool on May 13th. Great Britain is the host, although in 2022 in Turin it finished second behind the Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra. Because of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the European broadcasting union EBU did not want the ESC final to take place in the country of last year's winner, as is usual. Ukraine originally wanted it anyway.

Germany had done disappointingly in the ESC final in recent years. Singer Malik Harris took last place last year.
