George P. Wilbur: The Michael Myers actor is dead

Mourning for George P. Wilbur (1941-2023): The US actor and stuntman, known for his portrayal of Michael Myers in several "Halloween" films, has died. He was 81 years old.

Christopher Durand, also a stuntman in the "Halloween" franchise, announced his death on Facebook on Thursday (February 2), according to the British "Mirror". "George P. Wilbur passed away last night. George, you were absolutely amazing and loved so much. We will miss you very much."

George P. Wilbur began his film career in 1966 with an extra role in "El Dorado". In "Halloween IV - Michael Myers Returns" (1988) and "Halloween VI - The Curse of Michael Myers" (1995) he embodied the famous antagonist. In "Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers" he was seen as a stuntman for the actor Don Shanks.

He was involved in more than 100 television and film projects, including Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971), Mission: Impossible (1970-1973) and Ghostbusters II (1989). He ended his career in the mid-1990s, returning in 2012 and 2014 for smaller roles in front of the camera.

Several colleagues mourn the actor and stuntman on social media. "Halloween" screenwriter Daniel Farrands (53) commented on Durand's Facebook post: "Very sad to hear of George's death. He was such a kind soul and a valued member of the 'Halloween' family."

Actor Spencer Charnas (37) tweeted: "RIP one of my favorite Michael Myers actors of all time, George P. Wilbur."
