What has been rumored for a long time has now been officially confirmed by the streaming provider Netflix. The "Gears of War" video game series, which saw the light of day 16 years ago, is being adapted. Two projects are already being planned: First, "a live-action film will be created, followed by an animated series for adults." The option for further implementations is also kept open in the communication.

In 2006, the first part of the third-person shooter appeared on Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, but it was indexed in Germany for almost ten years. Several sequels, a prequel and a strategy game offshoot followed. In 2008, a book from the "Gears of War" universe was published for the first time.

"Gears of War" is set in a dystopian future in which humanity has been overrun by a hostile alien race, the Locust. Few surviving soldiers engage in a fierce battle in the shattered ruins of ancient civilization to ensure the survival of mankind.
