The Fussbroich family, consisting of Fred, his wife Annemie and son Frank, became known through their docu-soap, which has been broadcast on WDR television since the late 1980s. The director Ute Diehl received the Grimme Prize in 1992. "Die Fussbroichs" is considered the first German TV docu-soap and was filmed from 1989 to 2001. It paved the way for other reality formats.

Frank Fussbroich went to the "Summer House of the Stars" with his wife Elke in 2018, and in the end the couple finished third. He also took part in the big "jungle show" in 2021.
