The Swedish director Ruben Östlund (48) will be the jury president of this year's film festival in Cannes. He is taking over this function 50 years after his compatriot Ingrid Bergman, as the festival announced on Tuesday.

Östlund has already won the Palme d'Or in Cannes twice: in 2017 with "The Square" and in 2022 with "Triangle of Sadness". The festival on the Côte d'Azur is taking place for the 76th time this year and runs from May 16th to 27th.
