"Farmer is looking for a woman": RTL dome show receives PETA negative award

The animal protection organization PETA gives the RTL dome show "Bauer sucht Frau" the negative price "Speciesism of the Month". "In the last season, 'Bauer sucht Frau' was particularly diverse. But the discrimination against animals that are kept solely for human benefit is coldly ignored," says Lisa Kainz, agricultural scientist and specialist for animals in the food industry at PETA, explaining the decision . "Because in reality, our torture-bred fellow creatures in agriculture are usually expected to perform at the highest level that causes illness until they die in the slaughterhouse."

Kainz further criticized: "Cuddles, cute animal names and trivializations are in contradiction to the fact that true animal interests are hardly taken seriously". With the award as "Speciesism of the Month" in November, one now hopes "to persuade the editors of the format to critically depict animals in the show".

Since September 2022, PETA has been awarding the negative "Speciesism of the Month" prize to people, companies or products that have shown themselves to be particularly speciesistic and hostile to animals. A Rewe market in Dietenheim and Prince Marcus von Anhalt (55) had been "awarded" before "Bauer sucht Frau".

The 18th season of the popular dome show ended in November. Eleven farmers and one woman lined up to find love.
