The first season of "House of the Dragon" has just ended, and many viewers are already looking forward to the sequel. Some people are already speculating online about how things could continue – the screenwriter Ryan Condal, who is responsible for the series as showrunner, gave some hints in an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter”.

Condal will be the sole showrunner on House of the Dragon starting next season, as his previous colleague Miguel Sapochnik prefers to devote himself to other projects. For the second season, Condal also wants to deal with some points that have been viewed critically by many fans in previous episodes. Among other things, he announced fewer time jumps and fewer dark scenes.

In the first season, there were sometimes decades between individual episodes. The long period of time that was portrayed meant that even the cast had to be partially replaced during the season: Emily Carey and Milly Alcock, who play the young Lady Alicent and Princess Rhaenyra, were replaced after the fifth episode by Olivia Cooke and Emma D 'Arcy replaced. This irritated some viewers.

Such changes should no longer exist, announced Condal. "The beauty of going into a second season - any show, but this one in particular - is that we're made up in terms of the amazing cast we've put together There's a wealth of talent to draw from. It makes the writing so much easier because now you're writing for this amazing cast and the roles that we've come to know."

As in the final season of "Game of Thrones", there were some scenes in "House of the Dragon" that appeared very dark on the screen - many viewers could hardly see anything or anything at all. "The visual continuity of the show is certainly something we'll be looking at," Condal explained. He promised to take the feedback seriously and be considerate of viewers: "We want the show to be a great viewing experience for everyone."

It is sometimes difficult to shoot with extremely high-quality equipment for a variety of different devices: "For television, you release it on millions of different television screens around the world, each with its own settings and calibrations."

In terms of content, Condal is keeping a low profile as far as the second season is concerned. He also didn't want to comment clearly on how long "House of the Dragon" will ultimately go. First of all, he only concentrates on the ten episodes that lie ahead of him. George R.R. Martin, who provided the book template for "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon", recently caused speculation when he said the series would need more than four seasons. But the fans have to be patient: It is unclear when the new episodes of "House of the Dragon" will be shown. Filming will not resume until early 2023.
