Elton John: Singer says goodbye at Glastonbury

British singer Elton John (75) has scheduled his last concert in Great Britain: John wants to be on a British stage for the last time at the legendary Glastonbury Festival next summer.

The organizer announced this in a tweet on Friday. The festival takes place from June 21st to 25th and, like every year, is already sold out.

John is scheduled to headline Sunday night's Pyramid stage. Festival director Emily Eavis (43) announced it would be Elton's last appearance in the UK on his very last tour. It will also be the musician's first appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. "So we will end the festival with these big moments in both of our stories, the mother of all goodbyes!" the announcement reads.

However, the musical end does not come as a surprise: Elton John has been on a farewell tour since 2018 under the motto "Farewell Yellow Brick Road". Due to the corona pandemic, this has unplanned been stretched over several years.

In Germany, too, fans have the chance to see the interpreter of "Candle in the Wind", "Tiny Dancer" or "I'm Still Standing", in April and May he will play several concerts in Munich, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg and Manheim. The final concert on John's Farewell Tour will be in Stockholm on July 8th.
