Elijah Wood: He is open to new "Lord of the Rings" films

Just over a month ago it was announced that the Warner Bros. film studio was planning new "Lord of the Rings" films. In contrast to Amazon, which only holds the TV rights to the so-called Second Age of Middle-earth, Warner Bros. is able to bring back iconic figures such as Gandalf, Aragorn or Frodo Baggins. "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood (42) has now been asked about a possible return to Middle-earth on the sidelines of the second season of his series "Yellowjackets" – and was open to slipping back into his most famous role.

Literally, Wood said in an interview with "Extra": "If there were to be more films that possibly involved Frodo, I would be there". Only for a reboot of the legendary film trilogy would the "Lord of the Rings" star not be available.

The Warner Bros. film studio has not yet specified its plans for new "Lord of the Rings" films. A new edition in the form of a reboot of "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Hobbit" is currently possible, even if fans of Peter Jackson's (61) celebrated trilogies from 2001 to 2003 and 2012 to 2014 would most likely be upset in this case .

Another option would be for Warner to continue telling stories about new or established Middle-earth characters. Wood probably alludes to the second possibility with his statement.

In the same interview, the 42-year-old was also asked if he had seen Amazon's "Lord of the Rings" series "The Rings of Power", which was released last year. Wood says he's watched three episodes of the fantasy show and it's "really, really great." According to his own statement, he is looking forward to the continuation of Amazon's billion-euro project.
