Ingo Knollmann, singer of the German punk band Donots, does not believe that humanity will stay on the planet for too long. "I always say: I love people. I love to surround myself with people. But I also think humanity is stupid," said the 46-year-old in an interview with the German Press Agency. He therefore gives her "not such a long half-life".

"I don't think we're going to be on this planet for a very long time," Knollmann said. "And that's probably just as well for the rest of the flora and fauna."

The Donots, who have their roots in the Westphalian town of Ibbenbüren, have been one of the best-known German punk bands for many years. One of their hits is "Whatever Happened To The 80s". For some time they have been singing in German. Her new album will be released on Friday. It is titled "Today is a Good Day".

Knollmann said the album was positive and hopeful. "As a classic subcultural band, we are of course always knee-deep in reality," he said. "As a result, we always tend to be parked a bit on the pessimistic side."
