Domestic violence allegations: "Creed" star Jonathan Majors arrested for assault

Excitement about US actor Jonathan Majors. The star of the recently released movies 'Creed III' and 'Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania' was arrested in New York on Saturday. The charge: assault. The 33-year-old is said to have choked a woman.

According to the Associated Press, citing a police source, the call came in at around 11 a.m. from an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York. "The victim informed the police that she was being attacked," a spokesman for the New York Police Department is quoted as saying. "Officers took the 33-year-old man into custody without incident."

The 30-year-old suffered minor head and neck injuries and was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Majors was released from police custody the same day. A manager denied wrongdoing by the actor.

"He has done nothing wrong," the news agency said in an email on Saturday. And further: "We look forward to clearing his name and clarifying the matter."

Majors is one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. After his 2019 breakthrough in drama film The Last Black Man in San Francisco, he has starred in war dramas Da 5 Bloods and Devotion, and western The Harder They Fall. Most recently, he reprized his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas. He also stars in the recently premiered Sundance Film Festival film 'Magazine Dreams', which Searchlight Pictures will release in December.

Watch the video: Mini Avenger Ant-Man is back. In the third part of the series, the superhero leads an extremely personal battle. Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania opens in cinemas on February 15, 2023.
