The death of the shot rapper Takeoff (1994-2022) shook the music world. The musician, who was part of the group Migos, died in the morning hours of Tuesday in Houston, Texas, at the age of 28.

Musician colleague Ja Rule (46) wrote on Twitter: "This shit has to end... I send love to friends and family". Kid Cudi (38), who worked with Migos on the hit "Danger", tweeted "RIP Takeoff". Gucci Mane (42), who recently recorded the track "US vs. Them" with Takeoff, wrote on Twitter: "It broke my heart."

Sharing a photo of himself on stage with Takeoff, Drake, 36, wrote, "I have the fondest memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touched. That's what I'm concentrating on now. Rest in peace, spaceman." Machine Gun Kelly, 32, tweeted about the time he and The Migos worked together, writing, "Because of shit like that, I always tell my brothers I love them when we're DJing."

Outkast sent their condolences to his family and friends and wished the dead man a tweet: "Rest in peace, Takeoff." Rapper Khalid, 24, wrote the same thing in a tweet, along with his hands folded in prayer. Ex-boxer Mike Tyson (56) also mourns the rapper and tweeted: "I've met him a few times and he was such a bright light. May he shine forever now."

The crime happened around 2:30 a.m. at a private party, police said at a press conference on Tuesday. About 40 people are said to have gathered in front of a billiard and bowling bar in Texas. On site, the police found the body of the hip-hop musician and two injured people. Police do not believe Takeoff, who was considered non-violent, was involved in the conflict.
