"Crime Scene: Queens": Veronica Ferres as Queen's Day boss

The new Munich crime thriller "Tatort: Königinnen" has been in production since Thursday (September 27th). In addition to the three investigators, Ivo Batic (Miroslav Nemec, 64), Franz Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl, 63) and Kalli Hammermann (Ferdinand Hofer, born 1993), Veronica Ferres (57) and Wolfgang Fierek (71) play leading roles in episodes.

And the BR was able to engage another big name for this production, directed by Rudi Gaul (born 1982, "Tatort: Videobeweis"): the film music comes from the Bavarian band LaBrassBanda (since 2007). The internationally successful musicians around lead singer and trumpeter Stefan Dettl (41) from Chiemgau will also be seen in this "crime scene".

This time, the Munich commissioners are investigating the realm of the Bavarian product queens.

At the summit meeting of Bavarian product queens, there was an attempted murder: the President of the Bavarian Association (Fierek) was attacked with a bolt gun and has been in intensive care ever since. Batic and Leitmayr find out that the victim used his position for sexual assault: no queen was safe from his harassment. So everyone had a motive to get back at him - including the organizer of Queen's Day (Ferres).

The investigators dive into the supposedly ideal world of the vegetable monarchies and investigate between hay bales, tractors and white-blue pennants; between asparagus, honey and white sausage queens from Aschaffenburg to Berchtesgaden. Fortunately, they receive support in their investigation: the Nördlinger onion queen Annelie (Daria Vivien Wolf, born 2001) is a police student in civil life.

For the award-winning actress Veronica Ferres, this is the third joint case with Batic and Leitmayr. They have already been seen together in "Tatort: Alles Palermo" (1993) and "Tatort: ... and the music plays" (1994). In her first Sunday thriller, Ferres stood in front of the camera with Helmut Fischer (1926-1997) as Chief Inspector Ludwig Lenz for the Munich "Tatort: Schicki-Micki" (1985). "Tatort: Blutspur" (1989) followed with Götz George (1938-2016) as cult inspector Horst Schimanski in Duisburg.

And Ferres has also shot with episode colleague Wolfgang Fierek. In the TV series "Ein Bayer auf Rügen" (1993), in which he played the title role, she was seen as Anni for 13 episodes. Speaking of the title role and product kings, Fierek himself played a product king many years ago in the TV series "Der Schwammerlkönig" (1988) - his agriculturally inspired song "Resi, I'll pick you up with my tractor" (1985) was there long ago a popular song. Apart from that, Fierek is no stranger to Nemec and Wachtveitl, because these three also appeared together in front of the camera for "Tatort: Totentanz" (2002).

The broadcast of the new crime thriller "Tatort: Königinnen", which is currently being shot in and around Munich, is planned for 2023.
