Christina Applegate: Her Last Red Carpet Appearance?

She had previously announced that it could be her last appearance on the red carpet: Christina Applegate (51) has now appeared at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) in Los Angeles. The actress, who made her MS diagnosis public in 2021, appeared at the awards ceremony with her daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble, 12.

Upon arriving at Fairmont Century Plaza, the 51-year-old appeared with a black cane that read "FU [f**k you] MS," according to People magazine. The Emmy winner chose a black, long velvet dress for the performance. She wore her blonde hair in soft waves, just like her daughter. Sadie also presented a black hat and a dark outfit consisting of a long blazer, trousers and platform lace-up boots.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in early February, Applegate said of the Screen Actors Guild Awards: "It's probably my last awards show as an actress, so it's a big deal." She added, "Right now I can't imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on set." Applegate was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Jen Harding in the Netflix comedy Dead to Me. In the end, Jean Smart (71, "Hacks") won the prize.

Applegate already has her next career step in mind besides acting: "Doing a whole lot of voiceovers to earn some money so that my daughter can be fed and we can have a home," she told the "Los Angeles Times".

Christina Applegate, who became famous in the 1980s with the sitcom "A Terribly Nice Family", had made public in August 2021 that she had multiple sclerosis.

In mid-January, she made her first appearance at an awards ceremony since her MS diagnosis. According to US media reports, the actress did not walk the red carpet at the Critics' Choice Awards 2023. But she posed for photographers backstage. Applegate was also accompanied here by her daughter Sadie.

In a conversation with the "New York Times" in November 2022, the actress spoke about her illness. "I will never accept that," she said at the time. "I'm pissed." After receiving the diagnosis, filming of the third and final season of Dead to Me, in which Applegate co-stars, took a five-month hiatus from filming.
